Working with AVCHD .mts files
Question
How do I work with AVCHD .mts files?
Answer
Computer playback of raw AVCHD and HDV files from QuickTime is a problem unfortunately. CatDV will import .mts (and .m2t) files and read the metadata from them but to play them you need to install Xuggle or JMF (see the online help for details) or open them in an external player.
If you’re on a Mac you may prefer to rewrap the files as a .mov using a tool such as ClipWrap because iMovie and Final Cut don’t directly work with .mts files.
